    Lower kbps on first pass...

    Hi!

I have a divx newbie question for you:

How does having a lower bitrate at the first pass than the second, effect the quality of the final video?

And what is the minimum bitrate you would recommend on a movie?

    Thanks...

It doesn't. The final video is created on the second pass. bitrate is no concern on the first pass.

Difficult to answer. Depends on movie resolution, lenth, quaility, desired file size, your perception of acceptable quility. As you can see, hard one to answer. Maybe 700-800kbps for most 1cd rips but I have gone much lower. (eg LOTR:TTT on one cd)
