    DVD rip => to 1 (big) MPEG2 file

    Hello,

    I want instead of ripping the DVD and converting it to DivX just make it one big mpeg2 file with NO quality loss from the original cd. How can I do this. Are there guides out there to do so?

    I hope someone can help me!

    Thanks,
    Kevin

    (I'm assuming that you have an NTSF-format hard drive and, therefore, are not limited to a maximum 4Gig filesize)

    1) If I remember correctly, SmartRipper provides the option to rip the movie from the DVD as one large .VOB file.

    2) Use TMPGEnc to demultiplex the .VOB (TMPGEnc>>MPEGTools>>DeMultiplex [NOT "Simple DeMultiplex"])

    3) Save the .M2Vvideostream and then save the .AC3 audiostream of your choice

    4) Use TMPGEnc (Main window) to convert the .AC3 audiostream to .MP2 format (If TMPGEnc does not recognize the .AC3 file then, in TMPGEnc, under the "Environmental Settings" "VFAPI plugin" tab rightclick on the "Direct Show Multimedia Reader" and increase to the highest priority. This will enable TMPGEnc to accept a properly encoded .AVI with .AC3 audio for input...)

    5) Use TMPGEnc to multiplex the .M2V and .MP2 files (TMPGEnc>>MPEGTools>>Simple Multiplex . Make sure to set mode to "MPEG2", if that's the format you desire)

    6) Save with a new filename (".MPG" extender)

    Let us know of your success ;>}
