    Maybe a n00b Question

    Hi.

    I have just made a copy of a DVD I own, U571.

I have followed all the guides, and I have found some trouble. It was encoded to 4:3 ratio, instead of 16:9
It also made 2 files, the AVI, and the AC3 Winamp track.

The whole process took me a whole 2 HOURS, so I wouldnt like this to be happening again. Which leads me here.
How can I get it to encode to 16:9 (even though the information bar told me that it was doing so) , and make the audio and video into the same file?

    Thanks in advance

What are you using to convert the DVD to AVI?

Sorry, I should have told you that.

I am using SmartRipper to rip the movie to the HDD, then I selecting the .VOB files from DVD2AVI.

And from there I suppose you simply opted to save to AVI? If so, it is no wonder you got the wrong aspect ratio. DVD2AVI should only be used as a frameserver, NOT for creating AVI files.

Without sounding too complicated, I suggest you give GordianKnot or DVX a try. Guides for using them are freely available in this forum. Search for the user UncasMS, a moderator of this forum who has kindly provided guides for these tools.

        Cheers.
