    NTSC to Pal with DVDx&DIVx

    Hi
    my question is:

    I have this NTSC DVD which I want to convert into a divx-file using DVDx. I am in germany and want to play it back on my computer over here. I am familiar with converting PAL DVDs, which works fine.
    Do I have to apply special conversion-settings, when I encode a NTSC-DVD for a , let's say, "PAL-Computer"? Or is the avi-format, processed with the Divx-codec, playable on any system worldwide, not matter whether you are in an NTSC or PAL-Country?

    Thanks for the help

    Hi there. With DIVX, it doesn't matter if you convert a PAL or NTSC video to DIVX cause it is playable on EVERY computer worldwide. You can get things like DVDgenie to unlock the country codes if you are asking for this. But like I said, it doesn't matter to DIVX what format the film is in cause it will play on any computer.

    I hope this helps

      Thank You very much! I have one additional question, though:
      In the "Input Settings" of DVDx, I have a dropdown-box, where I can select the Framerate "Output Framerate" 23.976, 25, 29.97 and 30. Additionally, there is a checkbox "Detect Prog. 24".

      Do these settings have to be touched / changed in any way?

        No they don't need to! Not unless you are planning to make a VCD or SVCD therefore:

        Pal = 25fps
        NTSC = 30fps

        Othereise you don't need to!

        hope this helps
