    iamge quality problems

As you can see before the first image is the original file as it sits ony my HD before I compress it.

This image is from the compeleted process. You can see how bad the colors have been messed up.

I have never had this problem with any other divx's I've encoded. This is a setting of 703kbs. I have tried 1000 with the same results which means it can't be with the bit rate.

This is using divx 4.1 1 pass.

    Any suggestions?

"I have tried 1000 with the same results which means it can't be with the bit rate."

I don't know what makes you think that 1,000Kbps is all that would be required to show a marked improvement.

    1) As an experiment, try setting the bitrate to 2,000Kbps

    2) Try either DivX v.3.11alpha, or the most recent DivX v.5.xx, or Xvid instead of DivX v.4.xx

figured out the problem. The computer I ripped the dvd off of was in 32 bit color. The one I was encoding on was only in 16bit. Switched it to 32, problem solved.

          griz,

"This is using divx 4.1 1 pass"

I suggest upgrading to DivX 5 or XviD, and using 2-pass encoding mode. Both will give you marked improvements on DivX 4.
