I am converting an mpeg that was originally a dat file to divx in vdub. when i save the avi it starts the encoding and gets about 20 percent done and gives me a vdub critical crash error. maybe you can make some sense of what went wrong. thnx

could it be that i have a stubborn vcd or is it my video codec. how do you guys convert vcds to divx or even better to xvid. xvid is a mpeg 4 codec and vcds are mpeg 1 but i thought that when i convert the dat file to a mpeg in vcd gear it made it mpeg 4. but in vdub whenever i set it up to covert to xvid before it even starts i get a video compression error. and should i use fast recompress or full prosses mode. any advice will help thnx
