divx encoding problems

Recently downloaded a movie from Bittorrent first time usually use Kazzalite. File says DIVX re-encode (s2k).avi. Tried using TMPGenc but only get mostly black screen with distorted picture blocking. Checked file for relative codecs with GSpot.exe and codecs on system. I want to change to mpeg1 so I can burn to vcd.
Plays perfectly with media player,
any help would be appreciated.
