    encoding mess

now the problem is omething like this. I have ripped the dvd vob and ifo files. I try to encode it to avi with mpeg2avi0.1.6 witch I got from this webpage. The encoding proccess goes well but in the end there is no sound neither subtitles. What could be wrong? In case there are many things I'm all ears.

Although I've not personally used MPEG2AVI, I'm fairly certain that it's one of several converting programs that require you to extract and save the audio as a separate file - and then multiplex it with the video file.

If you are new to this (as seems to be the case), I'd suggest that you use a simpler and, perhaps, more effective program - MPEGMediator.

Load the .VOBs in proper sequence, choose your video and audio compression, select an output filename and you'll end up with a complete (video and audio) compressed .AVI...
