At my wits end please help

HI all,
I`ve got a problem encoding VOBs to DIVX.Flask keeps stopping when i get to 2 mins,not crashing just stops.I have read elsewhere on this forum that it has some thing to do with a MP3 codec.So I tried encoding with the audio side of it disabled and lo and behold it went past 2 mins.I then went to Control panel=>sounds and audio devices=>hardware=>audio codecs and disabled all but the Fraunhofer lls mp3(RADIUM) codec and tried encoding with the sound enabled again.And to my relief it worked but now its stopping at 2mins again even with all the codecs diaabled thru control panel.AAAARRRRGGGHHHH
When I start flask and go to select output the only 3 codec chioces are PCM,Windows media and FrauMP3 professional
Please someone help meeeeeeeee.
The odd thing is I`ve done dozens of DVD rips before then I upgrade my sys and this starts happening

Do you, in fact, have the infamous Creative Labs soundcard's .MP3 codec on your system?

If so, have you once again checked, via the Control Panel, to see if it is somehow once again activated (Perhaps you've got something in your startup sequence that reactivates it at bootup)?
