Problems with sound after conversion

Hi everyone,
i got a problem with MP3 Sound and hope someone can help my.
I encode with GordianKnot 0.26b usig beSweet.
I normalize the Sound and then compress it with lame. My Problem at 5.1 Sound is, that the Sound is not loud enough, but the music is much louder. I think this comes if the sound is 5.1 but the Music ist stereo. After conversion the center is not loud enough so the music blastsoff my ears but i can hardly understand speech. Please help me, can I change the settings in any way to get a better normalizing?

Does anyone have a suggestion for Presets??

If you have the ability to increase the mid-range, do so. That's where "speech"/"voices" are addressed...
