    Creating Pauses in Video...? (how)

Anyone know how to make a pause in a video clip like say in Virtual Dub?

Ok, I have a clip that goes by really quick, it's a short clip, and I know while I could just make the Frame Rate slower, I want it to:
Play, then Stop at the desired point, (for like 5 seconds or so..) then continue with the rest of the clip.

How would I go about doing this?

Thank you to anyone that can help.

Let's assume that the video is at 30fps:

                  1) Load the video into VirtualDub

                  2) Move the slider to the keyframe at which you wish to place a 5 second pause

                  3) From under the "Video" dropdown menu, select "Copy source frame to clipboard

                  4) Insert 150 copies (30fps x 5 seconds) of that frame (I know you already know how to cut and join in VirtualDub)

What the heck did you gain by posting NOTHING 7 times???

Ok, yeah I do know how to cut and join in Virtual Dub, BUT after I copy it to the clipboard, then how do I insert it?

And the reason I kept posting is to get the thread at the top so people would see it because I wasn't getting a response.

But thank you for your help.

To have a 5 minute pause in the movie here's how I would do it. (I suppose)

I like to work in Ulead VideoStudio V6 on my projects like that so I would put a 'end marker' on the clip to stop at my desired point. I would then make a 'snapshot' of that slide, then insert '1 copy' of it back into the timeline at that position. Click the 'snapshot' and choose '00:05:00:00' (5 minutes) duration. I woudn't not put any transitions on this slide. After the slide (on the timeline) I would simply reinsert my movie and put the 'start marker' at the position I had stopped at (on the previous clip) then produce. Vualla---- a 5 minute pause.

If you used VBR the space wouldn't be all that much. With DivX it probably wouldn't take up much any extra space.

                              Good luck.
