dr divx/flaskmpeg crash when opening ripped dvd's ifo

i ripped a DVD recently released using latest dvd decrypter and successfully encoded it to divx using dr divx. i did it chapter by chapter (it was more convenient due to content's nature).

yesterday i ripped a DVD from year 1999 with same configuration and both dr divx and flaskmpeg crashed. dr divx crashed when encoding started or when i clicked advanced option (when it tried to preview original VOB movie) and flaskmpeg crashed just as i selected desired streams and clicked 'flask!'.

bsplayer normally plays these ripped VOB files. my XP system is not overclocked and is otherwise perfectly stable.

i thought this may be about some new protection system, but i doubt a DVD from year 1999 would have such a thing, and DVD from year 2003 wouldn't.

chapter by chapter encoding doesn't work either.

please, does anyone have any ideas as to what i might try to get either one of these programs to work?

    thank you!
