    VirtualDub on Realtime priority

I'm encoding a movie atm and changed virtualdub's priority from low to realtime. Now the system is hardly responsive.. I move the mouse it doesn't actually move for like 10mins. It's still using 100% cpu though.
    Is the encoding still working?

    It is.

But, changing to realtime priority does not effect the encoding progress in a efficient way. Normal priority will do also, depending what you do besides the encoding.

You want to set the priority to idle. Setting it higher will not increase your speed of encoding. This is a usefull setting if you had other things running while you were encoding your movies, so Virtualdub knows how much of your system resources to hog up for the encoding process. If you are planning to use the PC while encoding, eg. for Internet, watching movies...then keep it on Idle.
