Low quality after resaving in virtualdub

I don't understand why virtualdub produce a low quality avi file after i have configure it to Direct stream copy ???

I thought that Direct stream copy is not compressing the video so why am i get everytime a low quality avi file???

I this a bug?

Is there a program that able to cut the audio stream from the avi file without losing video quality?
