Screwy .avi Movie - Audio is Longer than Video

I have some downloaded .avi movies I want to render to DVD, but the audio portion shows to be 5hrs long while the video is the normal 2hr. Can't get them to burn to DVD as the complete file shows to be sooooo long - 5hrs. So it won't fit on a DVD.
    How can I fix this?

Play the audio. See if it really is 5 hours long. If it is, you can squash it to fit the video, which should make the voices sound normal. If it's not, you are going to have to cut it somehow.
It would be much easier to just download the source again.

No, it's not 5 hours long. It's just that the index reads it at 5 hours and I don't know how to get it corrected.

Load it into Audacity or Goldwave and resave.

am i right in thinking you are using TMPGEnc to encode the files? i had the same problem... all you do is extract the audio from the video file with virtualdub to a WAV file. when you go into tmpgenc, select the video file as your video input, and the new wave file as your audio input.

          good luck
