problem compressing audio on Win XP

Hope someone can help on this one.
My computer was running Windows 2000 for about a year. During this year Ive created many DIVX movies with no problems (most of them using Flask 0.6).
Now I upgraded to Windows xp and yesterday was the first time I tried to create a DIVX with the new OS.
But when I wanted to set the audio compression I found out that on mp3 I can only go as high as 56 kb/s.
I tried installing Winamp, hoping that it will update the mp3 codec or whatever, but it didnt work.
Is this a known problem ? Is it related to WinXP ? (some built in limitation). Is there a way around it ?
