    Encoding on older hardware

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how I can encode on a K6II-400 and a C333... I've got a lot of vobs to get through, and I'd like to put these machines to use, but every time I try and open Flask6, it crashes...

Is this normal? Would I be able to use an older version with 4.12x2pass and get acceptable results?

My flask used to crash for all sorts of reasons. I found that DivX 4.11 fixed the crashing.

Once I had encoding running on a really old PC and just let it. used to take days for just a first pass. But the quality was the same in the end as my current XP1600+ (takes about 6 hours on this)

Only difference I found was the speed it did it at.

Use Flask .594. It is better and more reliable than 6, which I immediately ditched after trying it once.

To make it more interesting, have a look at this page: http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/do...flaskmpeg.html for all the patches available. Good luck!

Tried switching to 5.94, it doesn't crash as soon, but it still crashes as soon as I try and run a job.
