DVD2AVI won't work in Windows Media Player 10

I've followed Nicky's guides using DVD2AVI and VFAPI COnvertor, I extracted the VOB's using Shrink. All seems okay until I use VFAPI, it creates the "fake" avi but that won't open up in WMP10 saying it needs a codec of some sort. I've also tried to import into Avid DV Editing software which took ages but only a white screen and no audio.

Any ideas. I'm working in PAL, The Video option I choose was Video Option>Field Operation>None because choose Forced FILM and it reduces the frame rate to 20fps.

Am I doing anything wrong? Is there any easier and quicker software that will extract footgae from a DVD?

    Thanks

I did an xvid avi last night with "simple divx". Very easy to use and the results looked excellent to me. I ripped with Dvd-shrink then used Simpledivx to compress. Check the tools section here or get it at www.videohelp.com undet the tools section.
