Convertion of PowerVCR II-recording with DivX

I need some help for Converting recordet movies with DivX. Using VirtualDub I have problems to compress mpeg 1 or mpeg2 - files with DivX.
There is a big timelag between audio and video up to 25 %. Maybe it is because of the framerate.

If anybody has experience with converting PowerVCR recorded files please tell me.

As a matter of fact, I use the same program. Use FlasKMPEG - it's specially designed for MPEG -> AVI conversion. You can get it at http://flaskmpeg.net
