Svcd --> Vcd

Hi there,

This is probably a very easy one, and please excuse me I'm new at this,

I have a SVCD with Lord of The Rings that I want to convert to a regular VCD that can play on my old, very old, non-svcd-playing DVD player

I don't need all the details, just a pointer at a guide somewhere ?

Hi!

It's not as easy as you think. I've just did this myself with LOTR.
I found a guide at www.doom9.org but you could not do exactly as it said there.
First I copied all the files (avseq01) to for different directorys. Then I did convert each one of them with dvd2avi so I got an d2v project file. You have to set the field operations to forced film and then choose mpeg audio to demux all tracks. Afterc that you can follow the guide but if you listen to me I think it's better to decode the wav file you get with Lame using BeSweet GUI this way you can get a vbr MP3 audio. But if you want to append the files after you've encoded them you should choose CBR or you'll get an problem with the audio.

There's a much simpler way, using TMPGEnc, that's been posted several times at these forums, to wit:

Run TMPGEnc
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "MPEGTools"
Select "Simple Multiplex"
Load your SVCD's MPEG file
Set mode to "MPEG1-VideoCD" (NOT just "MPEG1")
Enter a new filename (with .MPG as the extension) in the "Output" box
Press the "Run" radio button
(Ignore any resultant buffer underflow or overflow messages)
Burn as VCD, using NERO or similar
