cannot see Divx codec in Premiere or 3d studio Max

I am trying to export or render using the Divx compression. However, after I have installed Divx 5.0 Pro bundle , I still cannot find the option of the the codec. it applies to both Premiere and 3D studio Max. I had done it before using other compressor and Divx 4. but since then I have re-formated my computer. and it is not working even if I instll DivX 4.

do I have to change something or could I have done somehthing that will prevent me from using the codec?

    please help

just a small note:..i only know premier.
you should render as "uncompressed avi"
and KEEP this as a sort of "master" and then encode to divx using virtual dub or to mpeg using tmpg.
divx 4 should work after you uninstall divx5.

I have tried, unstalling and installing both DivX and Premiere and it still does not work. I have also installed DivX 4 which I used to use with success, but now it is not showing up in the compressor option.

Actually I do have some compressor to choose if I have selected the Quick time format, but I only get Cinepak for AVI....

any idea? do I have to install DivX in any special way? is both Divx 5 and DivX 5 pro do the job?
