divx 2 vcd conversion with tmpeg but no sound is there???? can n e 1 help??

Hi,

I have an divx movie which i want to convert into vcd mpg file. however when i encode it there is no sound once it is completed even thougth i have selected audio and video in the settings of tmpeg. Can n e 1 tell me what i am doing wrong.

I'm not very good on TMPG but is your sound playing correct in your original file?
And if it is what kind of sound is it. MP3?

Chances are the .MP3 audiostream is a Variable Bit Rate (VBR) stream, which TMPGEnc will not process. If this is the case, you'll have to convert the audiostream to either a Constant Bit Rate .MP3 format or .WAV format. You can accomplish this as follows:

Simply use VirtualDub to save the audio stream as an Uncompressed PCM (WAV) file as follows:
Load your original .AVI into VirtualDub
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save WAV" (Enter a new filename with a ".WAV" extender).Click on "OK"
Then set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
Then save the .AVI as a silent .AVI (set "Audio" to "No audio" after you've saved the WAV file).

Then close VirtualDub and restart it
Set "Audio" to "No audio"
Load your silent .AVI
Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
Under "Audio" click on "WAV Audio" and load your .WAV
Set "Audio" to "Full Processing Mode"
From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Compression" and choose the appropriate .MP3 settings. Click on "OK"
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save as AVI" and save your file with a new filename.

The modified file should be accepted (both audio and video) and properly processed by TMPGEnc.

Yeh, that is a good way to solve the audio probs in TMPGENC, I always tell people to do that.

It is true, setarip DOES have good knowledge.
