choosing Res. for SVCD , help needed please

after downloading couple of movies from Kazaa ( using kazaa lite), intending to convert and burn them to SVCD or VCD format,
now i realize they have different resoulution,
i wonder, how do you choose which resoulution to download,
there are so many different,
384*286, 352*208, 352*288, 352* 240, 640*272,
592*288, 720*336, ....

so in the case of SVCD which is: 352x240
do i have to avoid downloading all other resoulution than 352x240?

is ther any problem to convert a avi format with different resoulution than 352x240 to SVCD format,

Visit vcdhelp.com for detailed instructions. The issue of creating a svcd has been discussed in depth by Setarip on several of his posts, you should find all the info you need there Do a search.

I believe, though, I may be wrong, that the standard resolution of a svcd is "480x480".

Isn't the resolution of PAL movies 480x576? I believe so but I'm not positive.

but I have read converting tut on VCDhelp and others, unfortunatly i could not find answer of my question there,
my question is: if you intend to makd SVCD out of movies from Kazaa or other p2p software, do you have to look for 480*480 res. when downloading movies or it does not matter.
as you know ,you have the opition of choosing which res. to download when you get your search result in Kazaa, or other P2P software.,

so far i have seen all files are AVI format ( I use Kazaa lite), so why so many different res package, what is the reason behind this,

You will not finde any avis in 480*480 because that res is only usefull for svcd. You will have to download in the best quality and highest res and adjust the resolution. Normaly the software you use to convert the video from avi to MPEG2/SVCD will do that for you.
