divx 5.01 encoding help

I am attempting to encode a dvd, which I have done succesfully many times now, however when i encode this particular dvd, after about five seconds or so of video, it hangs for 2 or 3 seconds and then continues. i tried rencoding it several times but always with the same result. Also i encoded it using mpeg-4 compression for the video and it works just fine... any help would be appreciated.

You should post more details on the ripping process.

What sort of a system do you have? Perhaps is your system is old, that may be a problem. In that case select the "post processing level" to the most minimum value, reduce screen area, and change colour to 16 bit. Try GDIVX player instead.

What resolution? What bitrate? What codec(s)? What filter settings? What...? (I want to know the details of your encoding procedures, so I can help point out the problem).
