No way to Read the Avis

    Hello

I've ripped a DVD for backup, but when coding it from vob's file to avi, using divx 4 FM or SM, divx 3, or divx5, using different programs (flask, DVD2AVI...) I get an AVI, but none player (the playa, the playa 2.0, media playr) is able to read it ("AVI format is not compatible). Thank you

did you use smartripper to rip it?

if you did: when u mean "for backup" did you use the 'backup mode' or movie mode' as encoding will not work in backup mode.

Also FM and SM is only possibility with DivX3.11 not DivX4/5

tell us how u get on

You should provide us details on how you encoded the VOB files to AVI. Also, between the time after encoding and trying to view the files, did you inadvertently remove the codec from the system, either through uninstallation or reformat?

You could try to open it in virtual dub. Choose the direct stream copy option in both the video and audio option.

Then save the avi as a seperate file

Then there u go. It should work
