Help with VCD stuff - please!!

I've downloaded Gordian Knot to go with DivX so I could make VCDs, but the think is, all the stuff I want to burn is in AVI format, fansubs I've downloaded off the net. So far, it seems to me that you can only do VCD work by ripping DVDs...Is it possible to make those AVI files into a format fitting vob or mpeg, or something like that? And what software would I need for that?

If you d/l the latest version of dvd2svcd (build 2) from doom9.org you can convert from avi, dvd to vcd or svcd. On the conversion tab there is an option to select your input source (either dvd or avi).
