    GKnot made my PC lock

Last evenig, I created two jobs in GordianKnot.

Waking up, I was very surprised to see my PC was locked (mouse frozen).

First job had finished OK, but second had locked during the DivX4 second pass encoding (8%).

Is it possible my processor got overheated or something like this ? (It normally stays on during hour and hours without problem). I checked processor duty, and during encoding it's working at 100% all the time.

If not is there a piece of soft that can help me diagnose my problem ?

it had nothing to do with that.

it maybe corrupted frames, maybe not enough hdd space,

MOVE TO DIVX 3.11alpha, less probs, more quality, low low file size!

Thank you for all your suggestions, but I finally found what happended. It took me part of the W.E. to discover that one of my RAM chip became faulty. I'll bring it back to the shop...

Hmmmm.............can't be but it's sorted, good luck.

It might have been the first memory location that the RAM was faulty on therefore GK was accessing that area and thus not a "strong" part of the RAM may have made the PC/GK locked.

You should have checked the RAM before you bought it, if you did

For sure I'll check RAM now... Hope I'll suceed to exchange the faulty one.

What made me think of faulty RAM ? I had a lot of VCACHE faults...

Vcache is not neccesseraliy the RAM. But it might be.

Vcache is the Virtual Cache, try increasing the paging mem or quit background apps or increase the virtual mem space.

I also downloaded a RAM test program which proved me RAM was faulty...

Thank you for all your advices.
