creating a digital media that will play on a set-top DVD player from ripped files

I am a newbie to DVD and DivX and I would like to know if there is any way to convert a Divx/AVI/MPEG file to a medium that can be burned onto a DVD and then played in a set-top DVD player. I am specifically interested in being able to rip movies and burn them onto something that can be played in my set-top DVD player. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You would need to convert it to a VCD. Read articles on how to do this at www.vcdhelp.com and www.divx-digest.com

Use TMPGEnc (with one of its included DVD templates/wizards)...
