    Sounds issues after splitting

So i encoded a film using Doom9's gknot and virtualdub guide with divx pro 5.0.1 and fraunhofer mp3... Sound was fine, i.e. you could skip to the middle of the movie and the sound would be there. However, after splitting the movie in half using virtualdub, although the sound was okay if you played it from the start, if you skipped forward it wasn't there! Can anyone help me?

    Thanks...

    similar problem

I used GK to encode for 2 cd's. I split it with direct stream copies for video/audio following doom9's guide using VD. I played the first file and the sound is ok but the frames are skipping. The second half of the movie, the video is ok but there is no sound whatsoever. Anyone know how to fix this?

        answer maybe?

This was the solution to my problem. I forgot to use the shift key (to select key frames) at the beginning of the first file. Lesson learned: make sure you are starting and ending the split files at key frames to avoid these synch problems! Hope this solves your problem as well.
