    fps

3 question i need to ask

1.how can you change fps (15fps preferably)

2.does it change the quality (i know about the chopiness issue)

    3.does it change the size

right now i am using the nandub method of just simply changing the fps but the subtitles goes out of sinc and i cant resinc it can anybody help me

I have not tried this out before, though I'm going to be experimenting on this too. I'd recommend that you approach some of the fansubbers, such as BakaMX, about how to create low-fps episodes. BakaMX's Love Hina releases were at 15 or 20 fps.

The filesize will be affected by the bitrate you apply. I doubt the fps will affect it.

A simple way to cut the fps in half would be to use the decimate(cycle=2) filter in vdub/nandub.

That should work ok with the subtitles, as long as you apply the subtitles filter before the decimate filter.

Well assuming that the Anime you are encoding, was originally made at 12 or 15 fps, and just had every frame doubled to achive NTSC playback, there should be a slight quality gain (at the same bitrate), but probably not very much, the divx codec is very good at encoding identical frames.

what about going down as in

start from a 25fps DVD source
              then down to 15fps

              any quality gain?
              any better compression?

I'd be really hard to find it around the big groups, since it's been licensed and many servers have thus stopped serving it. Does not Kazaa or such have them? I do know a few channels on irc that might have them, but is your friend comfortable with using irc?

Yes he is. he and his clan even have their own channel on quakenet.
I believe it's rather hard to find them on kazaa to at least the episodes he's missing.

I can ask him today which episodes he's missing
