Help Curing Blockyness in NanDub...

I've been using NanDub to create DivX movies for some time with a lot of success, however I'm having problems with my latest conversion.

I'm using the same NanDub configuration settings that have worked well before, however I'm getting blocky artifacts in certain parts of my latest converted movie.

It occurs in the movie titles and end credits only. The titles are all bright white and the background scenes are all quite dark. The artifacts appear just in the characters of the titles themselves.

Perhaps this is something to do with the titles being a bright colour against a dark background?

Please can someone advise me which NanDub setting I should tweak in order to remove this problem?

Force higher amount of bits via the Bitrate Curve -> End Credits. Your bitrate curve (generated in the first pass) has determined how low the bitrate for the end credit should be, and it is probably too low.

I'm familiar with the option that allows you to specify a bitrate for the end credits from a specified frame number, however this problem occurs in the titles as well.

How can I boost the bitrate for the titles as well as the end titles without increasing the rate for the whole movie?

It looks like a case of insufficient bitrate. What is your assigned bitrate for the video and its resolution? On the other hand, try applying a smoother filter or the like. It will slow down the encoding process, but it may just help.

also u could use a filter to reduce brightnness and change the contrast level.

The artifacts in white-text-on-black-ground-scenes seem to be a problem with many DivX-codecs no matter how high or low the birate is. Best way woulkd be to smooth that scenes with a filter to prevent hard contrasts.
