    Rainman *Chillzone release* playback issues

Just wondering if anyone else has downloaded this release from eDonkey or elsewhere and had problems...

It's a 2 CD release and the movie plays fine but i get no audio at all. I've tried playing it through several different players but get the same results. I'm fairly certain it's simply some strange codec issue, but cannot locate one that will work to play the audio. If someone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

In order to determine which codec(s) you need for a particular .AVI, you should do the following:

    1) Load the file into VirtualDub

    2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

    3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

Couldn't get a screenshot to post (file attaching?) so here goes.

      Video Stream:
      Frame size: 640x368 25 fps
      # of frames (time): 93468 (1:02:18)
      Decompressor: Divx Pro 5.0.2 Codec
      # of Key Frames: 2079
      min/avg/max/total keyframe size: 2574/23016/87182 (46730k)
      min/avg/max/total delta framesize: 1/5501/82624 (491007k)

      Audio Stream:
      Sampling Rate: 48000Hz
      Channels: 5 (Stereo)
      Sample Precision: 0 bit
      Compression: Unknown (tag 2000)
      Preload Skew: 24000 samples (0.50s)
      # of frames: 46729
      min/avg/max/total frame size: 2880/3840/24000 (175253k)

Looking at this, Virtualdub doesn't seem to know what compression it is using... Can we still determine what codec is needed?

Your audio is in the AC3 format and hence can be played when you have the AC3 codec installed in your system. Get the AC3 codec from a codec pack, such as Nimo or Tsunami. Alternatively, install a DVD player software, such as PowerDVD or WinDVD, whose installation will enable your system to play the sound as well.
