Divx 5.02 install error...anyone can help?

My problem is that everytime I try to install the new 5.02 codec I get the following error messages...

Regsvr32 has performed an illegal operation etc...
Unvise32 has performed an illegal operation...

No matter what version of Divx502 I try to install the same thing happens and I then have to reinstall the older codecs...

I've been told to get a copy of the divxdec.ax filter to be able to view avi's but I've got no idea where to get it...I'm using Windows 98...any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try installing it via a codec pack such as Nimo or Tsunami.

I have...they install everything but the 5.02 codecs...gives similar error diologs...I've reinstalled windows 98 and then tried it but the same thing happens...I'm really pissed, lol

This may not be helpful, but anyway, have you got the latest version of DirectX (8.1) installed?

yes...I've tried everything I can think of...
