changed codec

i have played movies for a long time and something just happened with windows media player7. i get an error message "no combination of filters could be found to render stream" i did what microsoft said to do , but suprise suprise it didn't work.

i can right click and and see the movie with sound in the properties or with virtual dub. although i can't get it to work in any of my players wmp, gdivix, the playa, ect.

none of my video files work, avi, mpg, mwv, ect.

Try using WMP 6.4

thanks, i've tried that. everything just says no media loaded.

Try reinstalling the codecs.

i tried that too and it didn't work. i just restarted my computer and brought back an old bakup of the registry and everything is back to normal. i'm not sure what happend.
