WMP 9 Blank Screen

Hi, I'm running WMP 9 under Windows XP with an Intel 82810 Graphics card.

Every time I play an .mpg or .avi movie the playback is fine for audio and video.

However the video disappears and the screen goes blank after approx 80% of the movie. This happens whether it is a short clip or a 1hr+ movie.

If WMP is set to repeat playback the movie restarts with a blank screen however the sound plays fine. To see the video requires starting WMP again.

WMP 6.4 reports a runtime error 'abnormal program termination' at the point where WMP would turn blank.

I've tried using DivX player and I don't experience this problem.

I've checked using gspot and it appears I have all necessary codecs - its reporting 61 installed codecs so I'm unsure what is causing this.

If anybody can help with this I would be grateful.

too many codecs installed maybe?
DivX player (Playa?) is using a build-in decoder, so it will not be affected by installed codecs
i suggest you clean up your system (uninstall un-used or duplicate codecs) and install fresh just the stuff you need

Try installing good ol' reliable Windows Media Player v.6.4, as follows:

Desktop>>Start>>Run then type MPLAYER2.EXE
