    intermittant divx distortion

i'm running divx pro 5.1.1, using windows media player to play back divx files. for some of my files, whether i compressed them myself or not, play with distortion on the bottom half of the movie... it just looks like a bunch of huge, scrambled pixels. they usually match the color of the video, but sometimes they're either red or green. i've tried all of the solutions i've found on these forums but i just can't keep it from happening.

it only happens on about 1/6 of the divx files that i download/compress.

    thanks for any help

So, everything seems to be o.k with your WMP and your codec.

"for some of my files..." -

For thous movies that you haven't compressed yourself
(maybe you did some mistake, and this is another story... ),
try to check them first in VirtualDub:
    1) Run VirtualDub
    2) Open the specific file
3)Go to Video-> Scan video stream for errors...

    Send the results

0 frames masked, 0 frames bad, 0 frames good but undecodeable.

      what's the last statement mean?

edit: this is on a file i did not decompress myself. i'm running it through ffdshow (04052004)

It's mean the file is o.k and has no error within. This is good.
I personally use DirectVobSub, but maybe the problem is
with your decoder version. Are you sure you have the latest
version of your decoder to decode the movie you're trying to play?

I forgot, anyway, try to display it without the FFdshow...
