can't playback an mpeg2 file? please help.

hi, i just got lord of the rings on mpg2 format. the only problem is that i can't play it back. i've got the divxfullinstaller codec installed and other mpg (1?2?) files play perfectly. the media player can't find a proper combination of filters to play this file. who can help me fix this problem. maybe give me the name of the proper codec?

You need to have a software DVD player installed.

i already got powerd dvd installed. i also can't run the file with this player.

And what is the player? WinDVD or PowerDVD are both very capable players, as far as I know.

i've got power dvd. i think the problem is solved. a friend said to get the nimo codec pack. and with that i should be able to solve the problem. so i'll try that.

i worked! no need for the nimopack. i tried power dvd again and now i can play the .mpg file.
