Playing divx movies on OS X

I just downloaded the codec for Quicktime 5, and I installed the two files (DivX.component and AVI.MovieImport.component) into my Library/QuickTime folder. When I try to run a divX file in QuickTime, I get a message saying "the required compressor could not be found, " which is the same message I was receiving before I installed the codec.

The instructions in the ReadMe file also say I can install the codec files into the Library/QuickTime folder in my Home folder, but I don't have that folder.

Help!

I don't believe you'll be very successful at getting Mac-specific information in these forums...
