2 sec freezing because of HDD loading

    hi,
I have tried everything, but the problem still exists: I'd like to play a movie, but it freezes every 1-2 minutes for a few seconds, and the winchester is working during this. it seems that it wants to load a next part of the movie, but it is too large for it so freezes the playing.
I have just installed divx 5.02, so that can't be the problem. could you help me out? thanks in advance!

It's possible that the system is having difficulty playing the video and hence the "hiccup" you are experiencing. What is the video resolution and your CPU speed? Also check that DMA is enabled for your system.

      thanks for your fast reply.

at the moment I have a celeron at 1.1 GHz. the video resolution is 800*600. DMA is enabled... as I saw that it always loaded from the winchester I enabled DMA, but didn't helped at all.

it is interesting that I don't have the problem with other movies, only with this one... but it works for ones I know.

Video resolution of 800x600??? That is amazingly high resolution and I'm no surprised you're having difficulty playing it. Short of recompressing it at a lower resolution, try playing the video with the lowest level of applied filter and run your desktop at 800x600 (or even 640x480) and 16-bit colour depth.

The resolutions we were referring to is of the video resolution, not the screen resolution. Any resolution above 640x() can be considered as excessive and does not help the quality much.
