I was just wondering. Because DVD Shrink is the absolute best at backing up DVD movies why isn't there anyone out there to update it so that it can backup these new movies with these new protections (i.e. Accross). I know that Mr. Shrink himself is no longer taking care of DVD Shrink anymore so why doesn't someone take over and continue updated this wonderful program. If you are a computer genius and your out there please take care of this for everyone to enjoy. Is there anyone out there?

That can't be done legally since DVD Shrink was never Open Source. NERO Recode appears to be based on DVD Shrink - the author supposedly now works for Ahead-NERO. So you might want to make suggestions for improvements to themComment

If you search the forums for posts by dvdshrink, you will see he is not allowed to give the source code out. Implication - he sold it (probably to Ner0). Do I know this for sure? No, but it's a fair bet.

Now you all are arguing/discussing semantics, just because you don't have a
9-5 job doesn't mean you don't work for a company. Shrink, if he sold his code to Ahead, must have some agreement to support it thru further work
as a consultant. And I am sure Ahead signed him to a non-competetion clause as well. For obvious reasons Shrink can never come out of the closet.
