I like the forum over there. It would be great if there were more than 2 people, but it is a great forum... One of the best that I have seen.

It is the best free hosted forum I have ever come across also. It is setup almost just like VBulletin

                    Hiya -

First, I like the concept of a "one-stop shop", though you have to be selective about what you choose to include in that site. "Bad tutorials" are far worse than "no tutorials" because they can confuse newbies even more than they already were...

By the way, feel free to link to whatever you like on my site. I have redirects set up because of my frames etc., but if you right-click inside the main frame, you'll get a "linkable" URL. The URL will get renamed during the redirect process, but the end user will land on the right page.

I do have a couple of comments about the site, though...

                    1. Of the DVDHelp.us tutorials you added, they are the two programs that I don't really recommend. LOL

DVDx is -not- the way to go when making VCDs or SVCDs. The best approach is to rip with DVD Shrink (or whatever), frameserve with DVD2AVI (create a D2V file and a WAV file for use in TMPGEnc) and then render with TMPGEnc. I even have free TMPGEnc templates available for this purpose. (They're quite good, by the way... You'll get excellent quality with no artifacts in the VCDs, and "damn near DVD quality" SVCDs.)

                    2. Smartripper is no longer the preferred ripper. I recommend DVD Shrink for ripping when making any VCD or SVCD backup. I also recommend it for DVDR backups, though sometimes DVD Decrypter will be necessary due to a particular type of copy protection called CPPM (It's basically the DVD-Audio version of CSS...) This particular type of copy protection results in a region error when you try to play it.

When dealing with CPPM, I recommend that you rip the entire DVD with DVD Decrypter, leaving everything intact. This step is merely to eliminate that copy protection mechanism. Then proceed to shrink the DVD with DVD Shrink as usual, by using the "Files" option on the first DVD Shrink screen.

                    3. As for prices for domain registration and website hosting... email me. We'll work something out. I can get you a domain for $10 and I'll host your site (and your domain) pretty cheap. (Your site is a small low-traffic site... My girlfriend is setting up another small low-traffic site anyway, so the two of you can simply split the cost 50/50. I have an excellent host, by the way.)

My contact info is available on the "About us" page of http://www.dvdhelp.us, or you can PM me in the DVDHelp.us Help Area. (Not here, or I'll probably not get it, since obviously I spend most of my time on DVDHelp.us. LOL)

                    Jake
