Converting .mpg to .mp4 Audio issue

Hello,

I am trying to convert .mpg movies to .mp4 for viewing over the web. I can convert the video no problem, but I cannot get the Audio to convert with the move.

I am using Final Cut Express on the MAC. When I import the .mpg movie, no audio is present, though the movie has audio.

Any suggestions?

theoretically you can place a mpeg-2, mpeg-1 video stream directly into a .mp4 file without the need for conversion
still i dont think most players will play such a file (dunno if quicktime would handle it)

sorry i dont know much about mac, but on windows you should be able to extract the audio stream from the .mpg, reencode it with your favourite encoder, and than mux back into .mp4
