    M2V and AC3

    Does anyone know of a way to merge these two together. DVDit seems to crash when I import them seperately. But if I import an MPEG2 then it works fine. TMP does not support M2V as input.
    Any help?

    And has anyone had DVDit crash with Windows XP and then tried it with Windows 98 and had it work?

    my dvd only supports 2.0 not 5.1

    if you are importing 5.1 then that may be a problem to my dvd try converting it to wav or ac3 2.0 and it should work without a hitch

      Yes, I am importing 5.1......but if I remember correctly DVDit PE should support 5.1.......I could be wrong though...I'll try AC3 2.0....I guess it doesn't really matter since I only use left and right speakers anyways....right?

          "TMP does not support M2V as input."

          That is incorrect...

                TMPGenc does support M2V as input?....I thought I tried to load it and it didn't allow me......I guess I was wrong......how about AC3 for audio?......

                When I want to adjust the bitrate to a certain bitrate ...let's say like 3000......what should I use as far as VBR,CBR etc......and where are the settings.......

                  Yes, TMPEG is able to read in M2V files, but using some workarounds like AviSynth, but that won't allow you to mux your M2V's together...

                    DIRECTLY from within TMPGEnc:

                    File>>MPEGTools>>Multiplex (or Simple Multiplex)

                    Select .M2V file, select .AC3 file, save with new filename...

                      Will the output in this case be MPEG1 or MPEG2 if I use the TMPGEnc Mpeg tools?.....thanks for the reply by the way.

                        (De) multiplexing just means that you join the two streams (split them) into one (more) files.

                        It does not alter anything that you give, it just joins the files.

                          My pleasure ;>}

                          When you select (Simple) Multiplex, you'll notice a box at the top labelled "Type". You can set it to MPEG2 (or MPEG2-SuperVideoCD), which is the actual format of your video, or you can "fool" TMPGEnc by selecting MPEG1 (or MPEG1-VideoCD) - thereby changing the format.

                          Let us know of your success ;>}

                            well I gave it a shot and my input M2V file was 2.3g and my AC3 file was 310mg......I chose MPEG2 video as output but when it was all done it had no sound and even though as it was writing out it said that the file size was over 3G and growing which was fine......but the final MPEG2 file size was only 2.93G......and I have my system set to NTFS which allows for files over 4G......I guess I'll just got back to RMPEG2 and use spruce up to make the DVD's......or the long way with >smartripper>dvd2avi>tmpgenc>dvdit.......
                            I only like DVDit because it has better menu capabilities but it crashes unless the input is Mpeg1 or Mpeg2.......it doesn't seem to like M2V and AC3 for some reason even though it should.

                              DVDIT will take m2v

                              It just wont take ac3 5.1 you need to downgrade to ac3 2.0, or better yet convert the ac3 to wav with a downloaded program from this site and then import the video and the wav to dvdit and that will work, you dont need to use tmpeg or any other tools other than smart ripper, so remeber have smartripper dump directly to m2v and ac3, then convert your ac3 to wav and then import that wav to dvdit, you dont need no tmpeg or dvdtoavi. Just try it this way before you throw all your plans out the window.
