    Burning a Divx movie on a dvd

    Is it possible to burn a Divx movie on a DVD-R and watch it in your home dvd player?

          Why isnt it possible?? Wouldnt you just convert the .avi to mpeg (mpeg 1??) and then use whatever DVD burning software to put it to DVD-R???

          What I wanna know is can you burn to a CD as DVD format (of course much shorter movie..) So it can have menus at the beginning and stuff, but still be cheaply burnt on a CD-R ??
