HELP NEEDED with burning a DVD from a rip! Please Help!!!

Hello all. I am sorta new to this whole DVD burning thing, as I just got my Sony DRU 500A. I ripped a DVD using DVD Decrypter. Those files were like 5GB so I couldn't fit them on a DVD. I posted last night and someone told me to strip some of the audio files using IFOEdit. I did that, and now I have the VOB files, IFO files, BUP files and Default.pls in a folder. When I go into Nero (5.5.9.17) and try to burn these files, I get an error

Required File VIDEO_TS.IFO is not present
Required File VIDEO_TS.BUP is not present

What I do not understand is that these files are present in the window where I drag them over to burn.

Am I doing something wrong? Should I use another program to burn?

I would appreciate any suggestions on how to get Nero to work or another free program to burn this, because I really need this project complete.

    Thank You

    -Mark

P.S. I have tried SmartRipper and it takes about 2 days just to rip.

"I have the VOB files, IFO files, BUP files and Default.pls in a folder"

    Name the folder "Video_ts"...

OK...I put that into the burn queue and I click burn. Then it says:

DVD-Video files reallocation failed. The resulting DVD might be unplayable. Do you want to continue.

      The error there is:

Video title set containing "VTS_06_0.IFO" is not required

I remove that file from the queue. Then I try, now it says that VTS_06_0.IFO is required. So I added it again. I clicked burn and I got the first error message again, but I continued. It burned all the way up to 99% and then it said Burn Failed, could not write disc-at-once or something like that. I have wasted $10 in DVDs trying to make this work. Do you have any suggestions on why this is failing like this or how to make it work using Nero or another DVD burning program? The others I have are DVDIt PE, MyDVD.

      Please Help!

P.S. I appreciate your fast response

I followed that guide. It burned in Nero with no errors, but it wouldn't play on my home DVD player. It would recognise it, but when I hit play it would just go back to stop again, no errors.

          Any Suggestions?

          Thanks in advance

i had a similar prob, turned out to be the media, i tried optodisk and they don't work in my standalone dvd player, so i am using memorex which i buy at a video store, going to try some princo and see how they do, but try switching media after u try the movie in someone elses dvd player

Just as a FYI, I'm using Maxell media. I had Memorex before but all of those failed.

I was just going to post and ask that question (about my DVD player not being compatible with DVD-R). I have burned a DVD+R of my own video clips made with my Canon GL2 and it played on my DVD Player.

Also, this disc plays on my computer DVD player.

I will check out that site and post back.

P.S. When researching all of the DVD formats, I thought I read that DVD-R was the most compatible.

OK I checked out my player. It's the JVC XV-D701 and it says it can play:

                    CDRW
                    DVD-R
                    DVD+R
                    Few DVD+RW
                    VCD
                    XVCD

That's wierd, because everytime I try to make a VCD it wouldn't work...that's the whole reason I spend $250 on a DVD burner.

from the players it seems it doesn't read cd-r which is confusing because it can read cdrw's (don't know what jvc was smoking)
were u burning the vcd's on cdr
did u make sure and put the audio file in nero (just checkin)

Yes I was burning the VCD on a CDR...I created the file like it said. There wasn't supposed to be anything in it, right?

Go back to vcdhelp.com and look for a program called bitsetter. It fools the DVD media into being programmed as a DVD-ROM instead of DVD-RW (or whatever) and it will play in the DVD player. I had the same problem and once I ran this program all the DVDs that I burn will play on my DVD player (which would not
play any DVD-R, DVD-RW at all before).

When I put in the DVD-R media into the drive and run DVDBitSetter, it doesn't see the media. When I try to change it to DVD-ROM it says No DVD+RW Media Mounted. I have the correct drive selected, but it still says that.

I went out and got some DVD+R and I'm gonna try to burn using them. I tried the DVD+R in bitsetter, and it said cannot convert to DVD-ROM or something like that.

I am just making it a DVD+R for the time being because I need this by tomorrow (hopefully it will work). I am trying to accomplish it to work on a DVD-R because I can get the DVD-R cheaper than the DVD+R.

                              ???
