Data Rate to High??

Hi, I have captured footage from my DV camcorder using videowave, converted to MPEG2 using TMPGEnc with all the settings left as standard, and then assembled into finished format using Sonic My DVD.

When I then tried to burn the DVD, sonic went through some set-up processes and then errored, saying "the data rate of this movie is to high for DVD"

What am I doing wrong this time!!

I have had the same error message in MyDVD when I had some video encoded at 8M. The DVD standard means that the combined rate must not be over a certain data rate or you will get a data rate error. Try and reencode at a lower rate around 6M.

Many thanks for your response, and sorry for replying with such a lame question, but I am very new to this... what exactly does the 8M mean, and where can I change it?!

When you capture video you have to capture at a data rate. The recommended data rate for DVD quality is between 6 Meg per second and 8 Meg per second. That is every second 6 - 8 Meg of data (video and audio) is captured.
