I want to convert VHS into DVD. My question is, We all know that the quality sucks if I just capture the VHS to my computer and author to DVD. However, what if I take my video recorder and output to a line doubler and output to my cature card? Will this give me DVD quality? I was thinking of using the iscan pro for the line doubling. Please help.

When capturing VHS video, I've found the best results can be attained by capturing at 704x480 either uncompressed or with a lossless codec (such as the ASUS codec included with the software packaged with GeForce video cards, or the HuffyUV codec). The next step is to load the .AVI file into VirtualDub, or the MPEG file into TMPGEnc and apply a Deinterlace filter.

No - because you still can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear - or gold from lead ;>}
