    DVD-9 no good

after many attempts at backing up DVD-5's flawlessly, I started on DVD-9's, just stripping audio and subtitle streams, not re-encoding video at all.

however, when I burn a disc it will not play in my XMS 750 DVD player, but it will on a HAIER HD2002 dvd player.

although DVD-5 duplicated discs will run perfect on the XMS player, DVD-9 stripped discs will not run at all.

can anyone tell me as to why this is ?

    use dvd2dvdr

its the easiest converter ive found, just remeber dont run any apps while its running, cause it screws up the auto script. im now looking at re-encoding the extras as well.

no well that isn't the problem, the problem is this,

when I copy a DVD5, disc plays fine...

when I strip the main movie from *most* DVD9 discs via DVD Decrypter's ISO Read/write settings, my DVD player will not play the movie.. yet the old folks dvd player will flawlessly.

I've tried burning as ISO/UDF 1.02 and just plain UDF 1.02

any ideas? i burn with Nero and strip all languages apart from english and keep all .ifo .bup and video_ts.* files.

then whack the video_01.ifo file into ifoedit and Get VTS Sectors.

      then burn in nero.

It may be a matter of the BRAND of burnable DVD being recognized by one make of player but not the other...

(Either that, or you're getting a message to spend more time with the "old folks" ;>})

          Hey Keystroke

What software do you use to burn the DVD, If it is Nero, make sure the Joilet box is UNTICKED, as most new DVD players and the Fony PS2 dont like the Joilet file system.

For a complete guide go to my guide.

well the DVD5 backups work perfect in both players, which is why this is a bit weird.

media is fine with both players, both burned the same way, using nero with joilet and other options off,

but the dvd9 backups stripped of audio and subtitles do not load on one player.. perhaps because it's an older dvd player.. but that does not explain much..

I may just buy a new player for myself.
