Anybody try the new WinDVD Creator program yet with Mpeg-2 files?

I recently got WinDVD Creator because it said that it had some really cool editing and transition features for making DVDs. And it seems to do that very well for Mpeg-1 and AVI files.

But every time I try to import a standard DVD compliant Mpeg-2 cap , I get a message saying the file is corrupted and can't be used(even though the instructions said it works with Mpeg-2 files.

I know my Mpeg-2 files are fine(which I cap with a different program) in every way and can be imported into all my other DVD Authoring/Burning programs.

Does anyone know why they won't import?

Does someone HAVE to cap files with it's own capping utility to be able to import them to be authored? Or are they only talking about SVCD compliant files?

Does anybody here know about this cool new program and why this is happening?

The onsite documentation definitely states that WinDVD Creator (NOT requiring the "Plus" package) accepts MPEG2 files as input. I'd suggest you email your "bug report"/question to InterVideo...

Just curious - what's your definition of "a standard DVD compliant Mpeg-2 cap"?

the files I want to import are:
      DVD NTSC (MPEG-2 720x480 29.97fps CBR 5000kbps, Layer-2 48000Hz 384kbps)

I'm sure you are aware that Mpeg-2 standards also includes SVCD caps, not only those in DVD format (as I used above), but they don't differentiate in there message. Yes, I know their website says that....that's why I got the program.

      I've written them about it.

Is your audio (48,000Hz, 384Kbps) in .AC3 format? If so, that's probably NOT the compliant MPEG2 format the product handles...

          no, it's mpeg-1, layer 2.

          that's DVD compliant, right?
