NO CHIP NEEDED
Every model of Playstation2 is capable of reading the DVD-R Discs, mine is a v4 US PS2.. i dont have any kind of chip or Region X disc.. and it play my backup DVD movies on DVD-R UDF 1.50 without a problem..
maybe 1st generation Japanesse PS2 may have problems reading DVD-R .. but US and EUROPE models, dont have that problem..
